If I had known what "transgender" meant, I would have identified as such in elementary school, in the 1970s. I probably wouldn't've said it out loud though, my parents being who they were/are. I'm glad that my own kid, who is non-binary, had the language and knew that their parents would love and support them when they came out.

That said, I wish trans people didn't have to be at the center of the world stage. I wish we didn't have to "come out" and be "visible". I really just want to be left alone to live my life without a lot of attention.
