More of this kind of writing about the "great" artists of the past needs to happen - and be taught in art history classes.
That doesn't mean I think Gauguin should be removed from museums or art books. He did contribute to the canon - as did Picasso, also a predator. I'm a huge fan of Egon Schiele, but he also had sex with a 13yo - the age of consent in Austria was 14 at the time, which is a seperate problem. Andy Warhol presents another issue - he was a marginalized individual who responded in understandable, but really harmful, ways.
All of the above greatly impacted art, and should be presented as influencers. They should also be presented as deeply flawed, if not damned awful, people.
And obviously, more women, BIPOC andLGBTQ+ artists should be represented at every level.
