Politics has been part of art for a very long time — just as much as any other subject. Artists reflect and comment on the world they live in. The Spanish Revolution is just as worthy of artistic interpretation as a starry night or a lavender mist.

Feminist art exists because feminist artists exist. Feminism exists because there is a need for it — just like Black Lives Matter. That does not mean that all female artists should do overtly feminist art, or that Black artists should focus exclusively on racism. But if they do choose to focus on those subjects, the art should be judged on it’s merit.
