The Democrats know that they can bank on the abortion debate, whether abortion is legal or not. If Roe is overturned, Dems will have their platform for the next round of elections. If Roe isn't overturned, the fear that it could be will be enough to rile up the base.

Abortion has been good for politicians for 50 years. They should be able to get a few more years out of it.
