This is such a complex issue.
I love the nudes of Egon Schiele because he painted naked people in all their wonky, bumpy, weird glory. Schiele showed the reality, where all previous artists had shown their own version of an "ideal". Many people think that Schiele's nudes are erotic - I think they're nudes. Whether or not a nude is erotic is in the eye of the beholder. It is certainly true that Schiele had sex with minors. He was convicted of having sex with a 13yo, when the age of consent was 14. So if we condemn Schiele, we must condemn early 20th-century Austria. In most of US states today, the age of consent is 16, which is a few years too low in my opinion.
On the other hand, Pablo Picasso raped children and that is more than enough for me to never have art by that asshole on my wall.
I don't pretend to be consistent or logical. I don't think that logic or consistency are even relevant to art. Art is much more closely related to emotion and intuition. I am 100% in favor of people having art they like.
I am also 100% in favor of people knowing about the artists and musicians they support. Chuck Close was accused of sexual harrassment. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault. Anyone can find out this information if they want to.
