Whether or not a nude is erotic is 100% the perception of the viewer. It is never necessary to equate nudity with eroticism.

I am not saying that male artists haven't been complicit in sexualizing women's bodies - doing the same thing the larger culture was doing. I am saying that the viewer is not obligated to join in. I have the right - and the ability - to look at nudes by Egon Schiele, for example, and see them as simply nudes. They don't have to be erotic.

As an artist, I am aware that I do not control how people view my art. I take that into consideration when I'm deciding whether to show things publicly.
